If you like to be kept awake at night or woken up by that noise while on holiday, by all means book a room at this hotel. You can hear children running around all morning and evening above you. She has an excuse for everything that goes wrong and the worst attitude I have seen of anyone working in hospitality.

She is unhelpful, full of excuses, messed up a pick-up from the train station (even though I emailed and phoned them ahead of time) and when I asked why no one was there, she just raised her shoulders and said ‘we forgot’. If you see a blond woman at reception, avoid her. The rest of the hotel and staff is a disaster and most definitely not worth your money. The only good person at this hotel is the lady attending to you during breakfast - she is professional, kind and fast. I have visited Zermatt on several occasions (and stayed at a variety of hotels, 5 star hotels like the Mont Cervin and 3 star hotels like the Testa Grigia, which were all great depending on your budget) and I have always enjoyed my stay EXCEPT when I stayed with this hotel this year. Last be not least, we wrote a nice email directly to the hotel to share the feedback and by precising that we were not expecting a gesture from their side, but since we liked very much the hotel, we believed it was important to give them a feedback of our experience. When asking the reception if it was at least possible to get the breakfast in the room, this answer was: we don't do that (which is very surprising for a 4 stars hotel and especially when you're staying in such a suite!), This being said, due to this unexpected situation (no hot water), we would have really appreciated a bit of flexibility from the hotel. Then in the morning, no hot water! Impossible to enjoy the beautiful bath tub or simply take a hot shower. It would have been nice to have an alternative with another restaurant that could have provided F&B to the suite. Since we really wanted to enjoy the suite, we asked if it was possible to get room service. First, when we took the room, we've been told the 2 restaurants were closed. However, we must admit we have been disappointed in regards to the service that was provided. This is the 2nd time we are coming the the Backstage Hotel because we are amazed with the rooms and the architecture of the hotel. The breakfast offers fresh and local products from the region and everything is well presented. It is so relaxing that you will forget to visit Zermatt. Outside in the center of the garden is a nice and large hot tub. It is a unique experience and a must try. The spa is themed on the 7 steps of the creation of the world with seven experiences to try (sauna, hamam, relaxing room, floating in water,…). There is complimentary tea and coffee in the room as well as bathrobe for the spa. The room was completely designed by hand made furniture build in an industrial style with metal and wood. I was so lucky to be upgraded in one of the room that offers a view on Matterhorn. The decoration was stunning with very modern furniture that I had time to examine while drinking a welcome glass of Prosecco.
